In addition to providing shamisen lessons, at least once a year Makoto works to organize a concert or recital for her students. This not only gives students a goal to work toward and motivation to practice, but also offers them the unique opportunity (exceptionally rare for foreigners in the normally closed world of traditional Japanese music) to interact with and play music together with real working professional nagauta musicians. We perform under the name Yakumo International Nagauta Kai.
